Spicy Garlic Tofu

The perfect weekend treat without the unhealthy undertones of a take-away.

 

Serves 2

 

Oven 180c

Ingredients

  • 450g tofu, torn

     

  • 2tbsp corn starch

     

  • 1/2tsp salt

     

  • Black pepper

     

  • 1tbsp oil

     

  • 2tbsp maple syrup

     

  • 1tbsp chilli sauce

     

  • 1tbsp soy

     

  • 1tbsp rice vinegar

     

  • 1tbsp sesame oil

     

  • 5 garlic cloves, crushed

     

  • 1 shallot, diced

     

  • 2 spring onions, sliced

Directions

  1. Place the tofu in a bowl with the corn starch and seasoning, coat well and then spread onto a baking sheet. Bake for 20-30mins, until crispy.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the maple, chilli sauce, soy and rice vinegar.
  3. Heat the sesame oil in a pan and cook the garlic , spring onion and shallot until soft, reduce heat and add chilli sauce. Cook until sauce has thickened. Toss crispy tofu in sauce and serve with noodles or rice.
